One boy. One impossible dream. One journey that could change his world forever.

When a mysterious force hurls young Chetanna into the home of an enigmatic old bird, he arrives carrying an extraordinary dream: to bring peace to the wicked and divided world around him.

Even Chetanna is unsure such peace is possible.

But when his mother tells him of a distant land of possibilities—a place where hidden answers may be found—Chetanna finally sees a path forward. As darkness spreads across the island he calls home, he begins a dangerous quest armed with only a slingshot, a mysterious name whispered by his mother, and the ancient power of the Eight.

Chetanna believes that courage, hope, and determination will be enough to complete his mission.

He is wrong.

Halfway through the journey, betrayal changes everything. The companions he trusted most abandon him, convinced that the quest is doomed. Left for dead and stranded in an unforgiving wilderness, Chetanna loses nearly everything he depended upon.

He should turn back.

He should surrender.

Instead, he holds tightly to the one thing no enemy can take from him: his dream of creating a better world.

Driven by resilience, courage, kindness, and an unshakable belief in what might still be possible, Chetanna presses forward. But when he finally reaches the legendary land he has risked everything to find, a devastating truth awaits—one powerful enough to destroy his mission and shatter everything he believes.

She escaped one man’s control… and landed in another’s hands.

I don’t exist anymore.

The name I gave him is fake. The life I left behind is worse. And if I don’t make it across the border soon, my husband will find me, and this time, I won’t survive it.

Sawyer’s Ridge was supposed to be a quick stop. One night. Then gone.

But the storm traps me on a mountain with a man who sees too much.

Alex Sawyer doesn’t ask questions. He watches. Waits. Decides.

He notices the flinch I can’t hide.

The lies I don’t quite tell fast enough.
The fear I’ve learned to bury.

He doesn’t trust me.

He doesn’t need to.

Because the moment he looks at me, something shifts, and suddenly, leaving isn’t an option he’s willing to allow.

When the men hunting me finally reach the ridge, they expect to find a woman alone.

What they find… is Alex.

And he’s not the kind of man who gives anything back once he’s claimed it.

Not his land.
Not his home.
And definitely not me.

"Kendall."

He says my name low and unhurried, tasting the shape of it, and the sound does something to the base of my spine that runs all the way up.

"Alex."

The motion is slow, giving me every chance to pull away. His fingers close around my wrist, the one I cover when I flinch, and the touch is warm and careful and exactly where another man's hold would be a threat.

On him, it's a question.

I don't flinch.

The absence of it registers on his face before I've finished processing it myself. His expression shifts, something raw breaking through the composure.

His thumb brushes the inside of my wrist, finding my pulse.

I turn my wrist into his hand, opening toward him. The movement is small, but it says everything my mouth won't.

He steps closer.

"Tell me no," he says, his voice rough enough to scrape. "Kendall. Tell me no, and I stop."

I don't tell him no.

If steamy alpha males, curvy heroines, and just the right amount of paranormal growl are your thing—meet your new favorite author: Delta James.

A USA Today bestselling queen of romantic suspense and paranormal heat, Delta writes fast-paced, heart-racing, panty-melting stories featuring strong women, dominant men, and more than a few fated mates. Whether it’s shifters howling in the wild or billionaires brooding in boardrooms, her books always bring the spice.

Delta didn’t grow up dreaming of writing romance. In fact, she launched her author career in 2018 after deciding her second act in life needed more passion… and possibly more bite. Since then? She’s published dozens of books across series like Wayward Mates, Otter Cove Shifters, Club Southside, Tangled Vines, and Mystic River Shifters—each one a decadent dive into danger, desire, and often, some well-placed discipline.

She lives in Florida with her pack of loyal basset hounds (aka editors with long ears and zero chill), and when she’s not writing steamy scenes or plotting revenge for her latest heroine, she’s probably riding horses, walking the beach, or white-water rafting—because why not?

BLURB

May contain spoilers if you have not already read Wrangled.

I thought I’d prepared for every eventuality, but fate somehow always manages to pull the rug right out from under me.

I was ready to face the townfolks and their insidious attitudes, the local police and their biased ones, and even the condescension from the ranching community because I wore boobs with my cowboy boots,

What I wasn’t prepared for, though, was for Austin Dyer to walk back into my orbit like he had a right to—like he wasn’t the one who pulled the pin on my life then stood back and watched it explode.

Worse still, I let him make me feel small and weak, like the last fifteen years I spent reinventing myself into someone strong were nothing but a dream.

And I hate him even more because of it.

This time, though, I’m not a terrified girl waving a white flag as I face the world alone.

I’ve made friends and found lovers. I have people worth fighting for, and I’ll bleed all over those white flags before I ever surrender again.

Tethered is Book Two in The Wicked West Trilogy. It is a dark romance series with elements that some will find upsetting. A full list of trigger warnings can be found at the front of the book. Please check them out before continuing.

Torment Becomes Them
Warwick Gleeson
(The American Oz Maker, #1)
Publication date: May 6th 2026
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Historical, Science Fiction

The War for Utopia Begins

Inspired by a mad vision of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, a centuries-old time war is being fought to determine the destiny of the human race. As the conflict rages between the early 18th century and the battlefields of World War I, Czarina Sorceress Catherine Romanova joins forces with her younger self, Princess Von Anhalt, magician Zolo Bold, and World Maker Niccolo Paganini, to face a gamut of powerful and implacable foes. The most dangerous and ruthlessly brilliant of them all, the immortal E. G. Godfellow–once known to ancient Greece as the “Scourge of the Gods”–intends to stop Catherine and her allies from rewriting the history of the 20th century.

Their bold plan, to prevent the 80 million deaths of WW II and inaugurate a new utopian vision for humankind in the 21st century, interferes with Godfellow’s plan to maintain the status quo and thereby usher in his own utopian vision of “One Earth—One Master.” Only one vision will dominate, and either way, the cost will be terrible.

EXCERPT:

AS SHE KNELT AT THE CATHEDRAL ALTAR in the year 1762 for her royal coronation as Czarina of All the Russias, Catherine Romanova felt like starting a new war. She’d already endured two hours of a five-hour ceremony while wearing twenty pounds of silk and nine pounds of Imperial Crown; and to increase the burden even further, the droning excess of pomp and boredom had drained her of patience, not to mention goodness.

Wishing to distract herself from the seemingly endless prattle of the Russian Orthodox Patriarch as he recited Old Testament scripture, as well as the oven of suffocating heat created by a hoop dress big enough to hide twenty dwarves, Catherine lifted the curtain on theater. She replayed to herself Earth’s most important war to date—the ultimate conflict to define the fate of human nature itself. Her old violin-playing mentor, Niccolo Paganini, had dubbed it “The Utopia War.”

While the aged Patriarch stumbled over a droll reading of Malachi, her musing inevitably took her back to the time just before the war, to another world at age fifteen when she lived in the Castle Bärenthoren and had been known to all of Europe as the famous and unruly Princess Fredericke von Anhalt (aka “Freddie”)—the name born by her proudly until her terribly boring coronation now underway.

Dear God, help me survive this day. My destiny is Catherine, but my soul is Fredericke.

Even though her every breath and eye blink was being carefully watched and measured by the gaseous Moscow nobles who filled the pews of Assumption Cathedral, her first memory began with a sound. A barely audible titter, like distant footsteps on decayed leaves. She’d considered the scraping sound of a mouse to be the origin, or some other invading creature, for every now and then a cat bird or a dove flew into the study and fell to the floor, finally tiring itself out with fearful flutters.

So truly, it could have been any number of things.

Nonetheless, Freddie vowed to ignore the disturbance and return to her prior task: recreating the Greek mathematics of Eratosthenes to determine Earth’s circumference while imagining herself the gallant Sir Francis Drake sailing the Azores in search of Spanish gold.

Putting quill to paper, she sketched the hull of Drake’s ship, The Golden Hind, before jotting down a few notes on the logic of Eratosthenes, and just as she measured the miles between the two cities in his equation, Syene and Alexandria, the strange tittering repeated. But louder this time. Enough to make her hand slip, the point of quill jaggedly defacing her work.

What in Beelzebub’s name? she asked herself.

The disturbance had become too curious to allow any further progress on the circumference of Earth, and though Freddie hated breaking personal vows, she rose from her writing desk, determined to learn the truth.
