The
Magic Dreidels is based upon a clear lesson from Torah:
"Do
not covet anything that is your neighbor's” (Exodus 20:14)
This
story was one that helps young children to grasp the idea of jealousy
and what can happen when one is so terribly filled with jealousy
over materialistic items. I feel that it helps children realize the
truth behind jealousy and if they are faced with something like this
in their lives, they will be able to remember this story and reflect
upon their own lives. The author helps the reader to see just how
detrimental that jealousy is and it sends a clear warning to the
hearts of children not to engage in this way, ever. This story
brushes upon the reality of isolation as well as inclusion. The
reader realizes that with a good heart good things come to those who
are steadfast in taking the right steps in life and respecting
others.
The
illustrator Katya Krenina really did a wonderful job. She used nice
colors for the winter season and they helped to really keep the story
believable for the reader. Also she totally keeps in tune with the
author's story by drawing the characters with lot's of emotion.
Our
homeschool really enjoyed this book and we recommend it with a big
thumbs up!
